HOLIDAY SINGLE DROPS IN NOVEMBER

AWARD WINNING COMPOSER / GUITARIST TODD MOSBY RELEASES AN OLDE FAREWELL; A RE-IMAGINED VERSION OF AULD LANG SYNE BRINGING NEW LIGHT TO AN ANCIENT MELODY

Todd Mosby invites us into his realm of ancient music lore, one in which creativity knows no time nor bounds. Offering his most ripened ideas to a cast of seasoned artists, maestro Mosby churns up a most delectable version of a re-imagined Auld Lang Syne. Featuring award winning vocalist Lola Kristine and and drummer extraordinaire Steve Davis (Dave Liebman, Bill Evans, John Pattitucci), this track sizzles at a warm burn to feed the Holiday Spirit.

A leader and innovator in the Contemporary Instrumental genre, Mosby easily traverses, jazz, folk and acoustic instrumental genres with the highest level of skill and musicianship. Wrapped in an ever expanding envelope of lush harmonies and interconnecting interludes, this quartet brings new light and insight to a temporal, mythical Irish melody.

“Why did I choose this particular tune to offer for the Holidays?” asks Mosby, “Well, the melody has a kind of feeling of timelessness which seems lend itself into interesting areas of reharmonization, development and improvisational concepts.”

When researching the history behind this most popular song in American culture and around the world, Mosby found Auld Lang Syne to offer a very unique history and mythology surrounding its origins dating back some 12,000 years CE to Ireland. Legend says it was the song carried by remnant survivors of an ancient civilization called Atlantis. As they crossed the seas, reflecting on acquaintances lost but not forgotten, along with a spirit of hope, this was the song which has been handed down through the millennia.

“I find the melody the most intriguing aspect of this song; a timeless melody with a haunting beauty with very memorable qualities.”
